Bernice M. Guidry — 6/9/2002
METAIRIE — Bernice Marie Guidry, 77, died at 9:30 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2002, in a
local hospital. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, June 10, in Matthews and Son Funeral
Home in Jennings. Burial will be in Pine Island Cemetery.

Clara D. Guidry — 3/3/2002
MOSS BLUFF — Funeral services for Clara Dupuis Guidry, 82, will be at 1 p.m. Monday, March 4,
from St. Theodore Catholic Church. Monsignor Charles Dubois will officiate. Burial will be in
Andrus Cove Cemetery in Andrus Cove under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff.
Visitation is noon-10 p.m. today, with a rosary at 6 p.m., and from 8 a.m. Monday. Mrs. Guidry
died at 2:30 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2002, in Sulphur. She was a native of Lake Arthur and a
longtime resident of the Westlake-Moss Bluff area. She was a homemaker. She was a member of
St. Theodore Catholic Church and belonged to its rosary group. Survivors include two sons,
A.J. Guidry of Moss Bluff and Charles Guidry of Lake Charles; two daughters, Mrs. Jay (Martha)
Thibodeaux of Moss Bluff and Mrs. Don (Beverly) Guthrie of Westlake; one sister, Mrs. Gladys
Thibo-deaux of Lake Charles; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Dorothy M. Guidry — 3/3/2001
Funeral services for Dorothy Mae Guidry, 70, will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 5,
from Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. The Rev. Michael Barras will officiate.
Burial will be in Combre Mem-orial Park Cemetery under the direction of Combre Funeral Home.
Visitation is 5-9 p.m. Sunday, with a rosary at 7 p.m. Mrs. Guidry died Friday, Feb. 26, 2001,
in a local hospital. She was a native of Sunset. She lived in Lake Charles for 50 years.
Survivors include her husband, Lawrence Guidry of Carencro; four sons, Joseph J. Rubit and
Lloydton Paul Guidry, both of Lake Charles, Lester Rubit Jr. of Dallas and Donald Rubit of
Alexandria; two daughters, Juanita Jacob and Laura Ann Rubit Ahmed, both of San Jose, Calif.;
four brothers, Perlis Plumber of Compton, Calif., Hollis Plumber of Sunset and Albert Plumber
and Lloyd Plumber, both of Lafayette; one sister, Annabbella August of Lake Charles; and six
grandchildren.

Dupre Guidry — 1/7/2002
Funeral services for Dupre Guidry, 94, will be at 3 p.m. today, Jan. 7, at Hixson Funeral Home.
The Rev. Anthony Fontenot will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery under the
direction of Hixson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. today. Mr. Guidry died at
4:05 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, in a local hospital. He was born in Grand Lake and was a
member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, where he was a former lay minister. He was a
retired farmer and Cameron Parish sheriff's deputy and was a member of the Bell City Knights of
Columbus. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Reven (Norma) Guillory of Lake Charles; two
grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Eugene Guidry Sr. — 3/14/2002
Eugene "Poppa Stoppa" Guidry Sr., 61, died Friday, March 8, 2002, in a local hospital. He was a
native and longtime resident of Lake Charles. Survivors include his wife, Ever Mae Fontenot Guidry
of Lake Charles; four sons, Eugene Guidry III, Greg Guidry and Kinberly Fontenot, all of Lake
Charles, and Eugene Guidry Jr. of Beaumont, Texas; and five grandchildren. His funeral will be
at 1 p.m. Friday, March 15, in King's Funeral Home. The Rev. Craig Sam will officiate. Burial
will be in Combre Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is from 11 a.m. Friday.

Fannie C. Guidry — 1/20/2002
VINTON — Funeral services for Fannie C. Guidry, 87, will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, in
Hixson Funeral Home. The Revs. Lee Perkins and Bill Holifield will officiate. Burial will be
in Big Woods Cemetery. Visitation is 2-9 p.m. today, with an Eastern Star service at 7 p.m.,
and from 8 a.m. Monday. Mrs. Guidry died at 8:15 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, in her residence.
A native of Lafayette, she had lived in Vinton most of her life. She was a member of First
Baptist Church of Vinton and of the Eastern Star Lodge for more than 40 years. Survivors
include one son, Wayne Hardin of Houston; one daughter, Nancy Benoit of Vinton; one brother,
Orvey Chaisson of Orange, Texas; two sisters, Mable Chapman of Vinton and Naida Dugas of
Westlake; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

George Guidry — 1/4/2002
Funeral services for George Guidry, 51, of 2713 General Vandenburg, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday,
Jan. 5, in the Traveler's Rest Baptist Church. The Rev. Cunningham Bobb will officiate.
Burial will be in Combre Memorial Park under the direction of Fondel Memorial Chapel. Visitation
is from 9 a.m. Saturday, in the church. Mr. Guidry died at 12:03 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002,
in a local hospital. A native of Beaumont, Texas, he had lived in Lake Charles most of his
life. He was a member of the Traveler's Rest Baptist Church. He attended W.O. Boston High
School where he was a star football player and track and field athelete. He attended Grambling
where he played football and received his B.S. degree in secondary education. He was a teacher
of industrial art at Marion High School and Washington-Marion High School. He was also a
football and track coach from 1975 until his retirement in 1996. Survivors include his wife,
Linda Gray Guidry of Lake Charles; one daughter, Lori S. Guidry of Lake Charles; two sons,
George Christopher Guidry of Lake Charles and Kevin Joseph Paul Guidry of Lake Charles; one
sister, Sandra Guidry of Atlanta; and one brother, Elton James Moore of Lake Charles.

Grace Guidry — 3/28/2002
CROWLEY — Grace Guidry, 71, died at 11 p.m. Monday, March 25, 2002, in a local care center.
Survivors include one son, Jerry Guidry of Escondido, Calif.; two daughters, Gloria Guidry of
Jefferson and Liza Taylor of Grand Coteau; four brothers, Adam Kershaw of Sulphur, William
Kershaw of Millington, Tenn., Murphy Kershaw of Iowa, La., and Clifford Kershaw of Moss Bluff;
and one sister, Lydia Delaney of Lake Charles. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 30,
in First Baptist Church of Hackberry. The Rev. Brian Kershaw will officiate. Burial will be in
Hackberry Cemetery under the direction of Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley. Visitation is 6-9 p.m.
Friday in the funeral home and from 9 a.m. Saturday in the church.

Hazel L. Guidry- 3/28/2002
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2002 at 2 p.m. in Immaculate Heart of Mary
Church for Hazel Lebert Guidry, 75, who died Thursday, March 28, 2002 at 9:45 a.m. at Crowley
Guest House. Father Joe Greenwell will officiate for the services. A rosary will be recited at
7 p.m. Monday evening and burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation is Monday from 11 a.m.
until 10 p.m. and again Tuesday from 8 a.m. until the time of services. Survivors include five
daughters, Laura Leleux of Houston, Carole Schexnaider of Crowley, Caroline Hebert of Crowley,
Eva Guidry of Crowley and Juanita Iglinsky of Madison, Ga.; one son, Essie Guidry Jr. of Porter,
TX.; one sister, Florence Oliver of Rayne; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Guidry was preceded in death by her husband Essie Guidry, Sr., her parents, Louis Hebert, Jr.
and Oneline Matte Lebert and three sisters, Anita Lebert, Mary Gary and Iva Meche. Mrs. Guidry
was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home is in
charge of arrangements.

Ivan J. Guidry — 3/10/2001
WELSH — Funeral services for Ivan Joseph Guidry, 70, of Bell City, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday,
March 11, in Hixson Funeral Home. The Rev. Alan Trouille will officiate. Burial will be
in Derouen Cemetery in Hayes. Visitation is from 11 a.m. today, with a rosary at 7 p.m.
Mr. Guidry died Friday, March 9, 2001, in a Lake Charles hospital. He was a native of Kaplan
and a lifelong resident of Bell City. He was a member of W.B. Williamson American Legion 1.
He was a member of AARP, the National Rifle Association and the Farm Bureau. He was a member
of the state plumbing board. He was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Survivors
include his wife, Lillian Joyce Guidry of Bell City; four sons, Terry Guidry of Bell City,
Jason Joseph Guidry and Harvey Guidry, both of Hayes, and Tony Guidry of Sulphur; one daughter,
Rachael Guidry of Bell City; five brothers, Paul Roy Guidry of Hayes and Joseph Guidry, Rodney
Guidry, Leo Guidry and George Guidry, all of Bell City; two sisters, Ouida Guillory of Bell City
and Willie Mae Holland of Iowa, La.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

J. Stamm Guidry-6-18-2002 A native of Rayne and a resident of Fairhope, Ala., for the past seven years, J. Stamm Guidry
died in Providence Hospital in Mobile, Ala., on Tuesday, June 18, 2002, the date of his 79th
birthday, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Sunday, June 2. Mr. Guidry was
a retired businessman and a graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He was a
veteran, having served his country during World War II in the United States Navy. He is survived
by his wife, Montez “Tez” Tassin Guidry of Fairhope; two daughters, Mrs. Rebecca (Billy)
Guidry Adams of Slidell, and Mrs. Cyndie (Dan) Guidry Wilkins of Daphne, Ala.; one brother,
Warren L. Guidry of Rayne; four grandchildren, Marty Adams, Clay Adams, Catherine Wilkins
and Matt Wilkins; a nephew, David W. Guidry of Rayne; and a niece Debora Bernard of Conyers, Ga.
He was predeceased by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Laurent J. Guidry of Rayne. His paternal
grandparents were Mr. and Mrs. Adonis Guidry and maternal grandparents were Mr. and Mrs. John
F. Stamm of Rayne. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 29, at 2 p.m. from
St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Fairhope. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations
may be made to the St. Lawrence Catholic Church Building Fund, 370 S. Section St., Fairhope,
Ala. 36532 or the American Heart Association, 900 Western America Circle, Suite 209, Mobile,
Ala. 36609. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Magnolia Funeral Home of Mobile.

John Ravis Guidry-1/24/2002
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002 at 11 a.m. in St. Michael the Archangel
Catholic Church in Crowley for John Ravis Guidry, 79, who died at 1:10 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24,
at his residence in Crowley. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Officiating for the services
will be Fr. David Broussard assisted by Fr. Louis Richard and Deacon Rodless Leleux. A rosary
will be said Friday evening at 7 p.m. Survivors include his wife, Wilda “Lou” Thibodeaux Guidry
of Crowley; one son, William M. Guidry and his wife Susan of Lafayette; two daughters, Suzette
and her husband Rev. Joseph Gall of Egan and Johnette and her husband Patrick Leleux Sr. of
Lyons Point; one brother, Clifton Guidry of Jennings; two sisters, Vivian Broussard of Lafayette
and Betty Hardee of Jennings; 14 grandchildren and five grandchildren. He is preceded in death
by his parents, Sidney and Louise Pousson Guidry; two brothers, Chester and Wilfred Guidry;
and one sister, Velma Romero. Mr. Guidry was former principal of Morse Elementary, Midland High
School and Redemptorist Catholic with 36 years of services in education. He was also a veteran
of World War II as a member of the United States Army. Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home of Crowley
has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Joseph L. Guidry — 4/14/2002
CROWLEY — Joseph Lloyd Guidry, 63, died at 4:58 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2002. He worked at
Southwest Vocational School for seven years; Acadia Parish School Board for eight years; and the
Acadiana Council of Aging for 10 years. He was a member of Monsignor George Mollo Fourth Degree
Assembly, Woodman of the World Lodge 6 and a charter member of Sacre Coeur Knights of Columbus
Council 5499. Survivors include his wife, Roberta Mire Guidry of Crowley; four sons, Jason K.
Lejeune of Baton Rouge, and Jude R. Guidry, Dexter P. Guidry and Kurt C. Guidry, all of Crowley;
two daughters, Tammy G. LaVergne of Westlake and Richelle G. Broussard of Houston; three sisters,
Joyce G. Trahan, Evella G. Duhon and Beatrice Villejoin, all of Crowley; seven grandchildren;
and one great-grandchild.His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 15, from Immaculate Heart
of Mary Catholic Church. The Rev. Albert Nunez will officiate. Burial will be in Cossinade
Cemetery in Kaplan under the direction of Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home. Visitation is 8 a.m.
-10 p.m. today, with a rosary at 7 p.m., and from 8 a.m. Monday in the funeral home.

Lillie Guidry — 2/19/2002
VINTON — Funeral arrangements for Lillie Guidry, 87, will be announced by Hixson Funeral Home.
She died Monday in her residence.Survivors include two sons, Charles Guidry and Richard "Tony" Guidry,
both of Vinton; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Lorita M. Guidry — 3/9/2002
Funeral services for Lorita Mae Guidry, 58, of LeBleu Settlement, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday,
March 10, in Johnson Funeral Home. The Rev. Bill Miller will officiate. Burial will be in
Prien Memorial Park. Visitation is 5-10 p.m. today, with a rosary at 7 p.m., and from 8 a.m.
Sunday. She died at 6 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2002, in her residence. She was a native of Eunice.
She had lived in the Sulphur-Lake Charles-LeBleu Settlement area most of her life. She was a
homemaker. Survivors include two sons, Ronald Guidry and Dwayne Guidry, both of Lake Charles;
two daughters, Gloria Moore of LeBleu Settlement and Elaine Reynolds of Winnie, Texas; five
brothers, Wilton Soileau of Channelview, Texas, Raymond Soileau and Michael Soileau, both of
Lake Charles, Oda Soileau of West, Texas, and Rodney Soileau of Highlands, Texas; five sisters,
Geneva Adams of Tupelo, Miss., and Wanda Babb, Jane Rozas, Leona Peterman and Audrey Soileau,
all of Lake Charles; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Marie D. Guidry — 1/28/2002
JENNINGS — Funeral services for Marie D. Guidry, 67, will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, in
Matthews and Son Funeral Home. She died at 9:10 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, in her residence.
She was a native of Basile. Survivors include her husband, Richard S. Guidry of Jennings;
three sons, Huey Allen Lyons of Lake Arthur, Timothy Lyons of Sulphur and Lane Dale Lyons of
Dike, Texas; four daughters, Janie LeBlanc of Roanoke, Judy A. Robideaux of Jennings, Lou
Simoneaux of Toledo Bend and Tina Lyons of Sulphur; two stepsons, Jigger Lyons of Pearland,
Texas, and William Guidry of Sterling, Va.; two stepdaughters, Racheal Dugas of Lake Arthur
and Theresa Guidry of Jennings; one sister, Tris Myers of Crowley; 15 grandchildren;
18 stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.

Mary A. Guidry — 2/19/2002
Funeral services for Mary Ann Guidry, 80, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, in Johnson
Funeral Home. The Rev. Mike McLauren will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens
Cemetery. Visitation is 3-10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. Wednesday. Mrs. Guidry died at 11:05 p.m.
Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, in a local hospital. She was a native of Sulphur and a longtime resident
of Lake Charles. She was a member of the ladies auxiliaries of VFW Post 2130 in Lake Charles and
American Legion Post 407 in Westlake. She was a member of University United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Kile of Westlake; one son, Ronald G. Guidry of Lake
Charles; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

Mary M. Guidry — 3/28/2001
Funeral services for Mary M. Guidry, 86, will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 29, in Greater
Live Oak Baptist Church. The Rev. James Walker will officiate. Burial will be in Protestant
Cemetery in Rayne under the direction of Combre Funeral Home. Dismissal will be at 10 a.m.
Friday in the church. Visitation is from 5 p.m. Thursday in the church. Mrs. Guidry died
Thursday, March 22, 2001, in a local care center. She was a 65-year member of Greater Live
Oak Baptist Church. Survivors include four sons, Alton Guidry and Clearence Guidry, both of
Lake Charles, Fred Guidry of Long Beach, Calif., and Ray Guidry of Gardenia, Calif.; one
daughter, Divine G. Green of Lake Charles; one brother, Martin Malbrough of Rayne; one sister,
Eunice Mouton of Rayne; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Rodney Joseph Guidry-1/20/2002
RAYNE – Rodney Joseph Guidry, 64, of Broussard died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2002 at Lafayette
General Medical Center. A memorial mass is scheduled at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne
on Saturday, Feb. 2, at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne.

Stella M. Guidry — 4/2/2002
MOSS BLUFF — Stella Marie Guidry, 86, died Monday, April 1, 2002, in a local hospital.
She was a native of Hayes and had lived in Sweetlake and Moss Bluff for many years.Survivors
include four sons, Cyrus Guidry of Fellows, Calif., Connie M. Guidry of Lake Charles, Paul J.
Guidry of Sulphur, and Bobby J. Guidry of Moss Bluff; four daughters, Opal M. Babineaux of
Sulphur, Alice A. Jackson and Bonnie B. Guidry, both of Moss Bluff, and Stella D. Logan of Lake
Charles; 23 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Her funeral
will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, in Hixson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Arvin Harrell will
officiate. Burial will be in Richie Cemetery in Moss Bluff. Visitation is 2-10 p.m. today and
from 8 a.m. Wednesday.

CHURCH POINT – Helen Guidry Istre, 78, died Sunday, February 17, 2002 at her residence in
Church Point. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, February 19, 2002 at Our
Lady of the Sacred Heart Church. Guidry Funeral Home of Church Point is in charge of
arrangements.

Susie Guidry Young — 5/1/2002
JENNINGS — Susie Guidry Young, 50, died Sunday, April 28, 2002, in a Houston hospital.She was
a native of Lake Arthur. She was a graduate of Lake Arthur High School. She was a former
production planner for Northrop Grumman. Survivors include one son, Aaron Young of Jennings;
two daughters, Mrs. Dwayne (Gladys) Rowe of Bryan, Texas, and Mrs. Steve (Christine) Roberts
of College Station,Texas; one brother, James Guidry of Lake Arthur; three sisters, Patricia Beard
of Hackberry, Susan Cloud of Jennings and Alice Leger of Lake Arthur; her father, Henry Guidry Sr.
of Gueydan; her companion, Robert Hines of Jennings; and six grandchildren. Her funeral will
be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 2, in Miguez Funeral Home. Harry Rowe Sr. will officiate. Burial
will be in Andrus Cove Cemetery. Visitation is 10:30 a.m.-10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. Thursday.
